The LA Auto Show has just announced the competitors in its 6th annual Design Challenge. The entries - coming from the Southern California design studios of Audi, General Motors, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota - all revolve around a set theme which asked designers to envision the ultimate ‘youthmobile' for the year 2030. Ferrari today showcased its latest green fuel tech in a new 599 GTB Fiorano concept car dubbed HY-KERS. Maranello announced a five-year eco plan in 2007 when it unveiled the Mille Chili and the HY-KERS is the latest step in the programme. It's a high-performance supercar to display how frugal consumption and razor-sharp responses can go hand in hand, say the Ferrari engineers.Ferrari HY-KERS: the detail The 599 is equipped with a hybrid system claimed to add little extra weight over a conventional V12 599.
The Infiniti Essence Concept kicked off this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
This year’s event at Pebble Beach has kicked off with a gala dinner and the US debut of the Infiniti Essence Concept that we saw recently at the Geneva Motor Show. Much bigger than you would expect from a Japanese Coupe, the Infiniti Essence is over 15 feet long and features a 3.7 litre V6 turbo coupled with am electric motor, designed to give a whopping 590bhp. The interior of the Essence is much more Japanese than the outside.
